“The growth in exports of frozen fillet of cod continues. This is due to the increased demand for prepackaged products in the retail sector in several of the main cod markets,” says Ingrid Kristine Pettersen, Seafood Analyst at the Norwegian Seafood Council.
Exports of cod clipfish increased by 46 percent in week 25 to 564 tonnes, and clipfish of saithe grew 33 percent to 697 tonnes.
“Although there has been an increase in exports of cod clipfish in recent weeks from very low volumes in May, export volumes so far this year are still below last year,” Pettersen says.
