Brief description

Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) is referred to Salmonidae family and is distinquishd from relative species by dark spots on the upper part of sides. Atlantic salmon is a diadromous fish, which means that it is born in freshwater, but after reaching particular age, migrates to saltwater, where it lives most of its life coming back to native rivers to spawn. 99% of commerically traded Atlantic salmon is raised through aquaculture. Due to its excellent eating qualities and all-year-round availability Atlantic salmon is in its own right one of the most valued commercial species of fish.
