    Baltic herring (Clupea harengus membras)

    Brief description

    Baltic herring (Clupea harengus membras) is a species of herring found only in the Baltic Sea. It is smaller than the common herring (Clupea harengus) found in the North Atlantic or North Sea, and contains less fat. Common size of Baltic herring is between 10 and 25 cm.

    Block frozen, whole round, blocks – 10 kg, packed bulk on euro-pallets, pallets wrapped with highly elastic and durable polyethilene or cartons 30 kg.

    Baltic sprats (Sprattus sprattus)

    Brief description

    Baltic sprats (Sprattus sprattus) One of the most important commercial fish of the Baltic region. Is found in abundance in both – Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Finland. Baltic sprats looks similar to small Baltic herring, but differs from it with sharply protruding abdominal spines, position of ventral fins and a smaller mouth. Spawning occurs from May to August. Common commercial catch size is 6-15 cm, however the fish can reach 13-15 cm in length. The main fishing for sprat occur in autumn (September – November). Sprat is widely used for canning, smoking, preserves production.
